- Achieving Dreams group hat, which is obtained from Stand 126 the first time you volunteer. The hat cost will be deducted from the donation for that event. You must bring your hat each time you volunteer or will have to obtain a new hat, and occur another deduction, if it lost or forgotten.
*On your first day of volunteering at Target Center, you will fill out a uniform purchase sheet at the check-in area and obtain your shirt there. Costs are charged to Achieving Dreams and deducted from your donation. You don’t need to bring cash to purchase your uniform.
No bags are permitted in the stands at Target Center, including fanny packs.
From the Hennepin @ 10th Ramp: Either take the a street path or walk the skyway toward Target Center. The skyway entrance is via elevator from the underground parking. Follow the signs toward the State Theater and Target Center.
From the Skyway Entrance, use the elevator outside the 612 Lounge and proceed to “D Level.”
Exit the elevator and you will walk towards the security checkpoint.
N 2ND AVE ENTERANCE
You can also enter the employee entrance on North 6th Street, across from Butler Square, just east of the corner of N 2nd Ave and North 6th Street.
Push the buzzer to gain entrance. Go down the ramp and walk towards the security checkpoint.
There are two check-in locations. The first is at the security checkpoint. You will provide your name and if you are on the list given a wristband. After getting the wristband, proceed to the Levy check-in. This is in the office across from the loading dock.
Before checking in, place any coats or bags into the locker either in the hallway or the locker rooms. Bring your own lock.
Proceed down the hallway with the lockers and turn right at the end of it. You will enter the marshaling area and see the Levy check-in desk in the office area on your left, across from the loading dock.
Do not get in line with Target Center staff. Ask for the NPO check-in. They should ask which group you are with. If available, you will obtain a ticket for the family meal.
After check-in with Levy and proceed to your stand.
You must check-in with Levy to be eligible for a donation.
The easiest way to the stands is the freight elevator located on the far side of the marshalling area. Take the freight elevator up to the 3rd floor if you are in a “100” number stand or 5th floor if you are in a “200” number stand. You will have to hold the “close door” button until the safety gate is fully shut before the elevator will move. When you exit the elevator, you must hold the close door button until it is all the way closed or it will stay open on that floor.
Find your way through the doors to the access the arena area and find your stand using the section numbers as your guide.
There is also a passenger elevator on the west side of the command center, to the right of the desk with the parking validation. This goes directly to the concourse. Do not take the elevator you took from the Skyway level upon entrance, as there is no access to the concourse. We may not use this passenger elevator once guests are in the building.
Sign-In: When you arrive at the stand, you should find the stand manager and sign in on three sheets.
1 The Achieving Dreams sign-in sheet.
2. The Levy Sign In/Sign Out Sheet
3, Alcohol Acknowledgement
If you are new, you should be assigned a buddy to help you. If you do not receive a buddy assignment, please ask one of the managers. It is their responsibility to assign buddies, but sometimes they don’t know you are new or may be busy at the time you signed in.
After signing in, you should be given a role and/or setup task. Most jobs are POS attendants, taking customer orders and payment and serving beer. A limited number of backup/runner and kitchen jobs are available.
You should use the checklists to help you complete the task successfully. If you are new, please ask another volunteer or the stand manager for help.
At Target Center, how meal breaks are handled depends on the event. Typically for a Timberwolves or Lynx game or large concert, Levy serves a family meal. This is a restaurant term for a group meal provided free of charge to be eaten before the event starts. For smaller events, Levy may provide a voucher or a food option from a specific stand. All breaks should be taken before gates open.
After the stand meeting, we will finish any remaining setup tasks, make sure the stand is clean and organized and begin serving food for volunteers. ‘
At the end of the event, everyone must help clean. All checklists must be turned
into the stand manager. Once verified, you will sign out by writing your shift end time on the Achieving Dreams sign-in sheet
