As of June 1, 2023, you will enter the Target Field via Gate 14 (Hbrek Gate) whcih is located off of 7th Street behind home plate and next to Hrbek’s Restaurant, This is just down 7th Street past the wooden louvers where we used to enter the stadium.
Security Screening At the door will be a security checkpoint. You must pass through a metal detector and show your Target Field Volunteer name badge. If you are new and have not yet received your badge, you will be verified by a member of the Delaware North NPO team at security before security will let you in.
Proceed to the volunteer check-in table on the main concourse at Section 105.
Once through security, you must check-in with the Delaware North volunteer check-in table at the top of the ramp. The employee and NPO check-in are right next to each other. Employees will be using an electronic time clock, do not get in this line. To check in, tell the attendant your name that you are with Achieving Dreams.
They must find your name and mark you as present. If your name is not on the list, make sure they write it down. If you do not get checked in, we will not receive a donation for your volunteer hours.
The check-in desk will confirm the stand you are assigned to. If this is different than what is on the Achieving Dreams gate list, please do not argue with the check-in staff. Proceed to your assigned stand on the Achieving Dreams gate
list and ask one of the Achieving Dreams managers to confirm your stand assignment. The manager will contact the office if necessary, to resolve any conflicting assignments.
Stands and portables are generally located at the stadium section number indicated in the name.
Stand 105 Mill City/Halsey House/Sr Smokes, Stand 109 Hennepin Grille, and the P107B Popcorn portable are easy to find from check-in.
Stand 126 Philly Steak and Market and the P127A Red Cow portable are located in the northwest corner of the stadium, near the #6 Oliva gate, closest to the light rail.
Club E – La Tapatia is located on the club level, almost directly above stand 105. The easiest way to get there is using the escalator or elevators behind stand 105.
When you arrive at your assigned stand, you should find the stand manager and sign in on three sheets:
- The Achieving Dreams sign-in sheet. You must sign your own name to this sheet and indicate your arrival time to the stand (not the check-in line or parking lot).
- Volunteer Acknowledgement form
- Alcohol Acknowledgement form, required by DNC.
All volunteers, even under 18, must sign every form.
If you are new, you should be assigned a buddy to help you. It is their responsibility to assign buddies, but sometimes they don’t know you are new or may be busy at the time you signed in.
If you do not receive a buddy assignment, please ask one of the managers.
After signing in, you will be given a role and/or setup task. Most jobs are POS attendants, taking customer orders and payment and serving beer. A limited number of backup/runner and kitchen jobs are available.
If you are under 18, you are not allowed to serve alcohol, so must be a runner/backup.
You should use any provided checklists and procedure guides to help you complete the task successfully. If you are new, please ask your buddy for help first, and then a manager.
Near the end of stand setup, about 15-20 minutes before the stadium opens, the stand managers should hold a pre-event stand meeting.
Delaware North provides a meal voucher worth $10.00 to NPO volunteers and can be used in many, but not all locations in the ballpark. If you order a $10 or more item, you will have to pay the difference using a credit card or mobile payment.
Please be aware that tax is not included in item prices.
You may combine two coupons per purchase. As of 2023, meal vouchers cannot be used to purchase candy.
Delaware North has left it up to the stand leads to schedule volunteer breaks – but breaks cannot be done during busy times. Breaks are no longer than 20 minutes– meaning from the time you are told you are on break – not 20 minutes from the time you may receive food. Please report back to the stand promptly so that all volunteers will have time to break.
We make every effort to make sure you do, but as volunteers, we are not entitled under employment law to a break. If you have not had a break by beer cutoff, please make sure to notify a stand lead immediately, so we can arrange for it before the event is over.
Once gates open, we will begin serving guests. Remember to follow the Delaware North GuestPath procedures.
Since items in the stand must all be accounted for in our end-of-event inventory, please make sure to check with a manager before throwing away anything that might be dropped, cracked, or otherwise spoiled. There should be a “spoilage box” in the stand for this purpose.
During the event, if you find you need a restock on items, such as cups or notice items running low, such as pretzels or hot dogs, let your stand manager know. Do your best to keep your area clean and organized. If the front counters need attending, either try to clean them up or ask the stand manager if anyone else is available.
All end of the event, everyone must help clean, even if you have completed cleaning your immediate area. Please use provided checklists to make sure the stand is properly cleaned and ready for the next event. All checklists must be completed and turned into a manager before we can be dismissed.
Once verified, the stand manager will dismiss everyone. Everyone will sign out by writing the shift end time on the Achieving Dreams sign-in sheet.
